Pigment GB Stones: MR Cholangiopancreatographic Evaluation with Emphasis on the Pitfalls

چکیده
Introduction MR cholangiopancreatography reveals the biliary system and the pancreatic duct noninvasively. Many reports on MR cholangiopancreatography have described usefulness of assessing benign or malignant biliary diseases, pancreatic diseases, or both biliary and pancreatic diseases using various imaging techniques including gradient-echo (i.e., steady-state free-precession sequence) [l] or rapid acquisition with relaxation enhancement (RARE) or fast (or turbo) spin-echo sequences [2-31. Although MR cholangiopancreatography showed excellent results in the diagnosis of choledocholithiasis, precise determination of among various gallbladder lesions (stone, adenoma, or adenocarcinoma) is not so reliable, especially from our previous results [2]. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and specific diagnosis with a single-shot RARE and a multislice HASTE technique, were 75% I 83% I 80% I 30%, and 75% I 33% I 50% / 20%, respectively. We aimed to define common pitfalls in evaluating pigment GB stones and to describe differentiating features from cancer or adenoma on MR cholangiopancreatography.

The Frequency of Bacterial Agents in the Bile Juice of Patients with Bile Stones and Biliary Disorders
Abstract Background and objectives: Bile in healthy people is a sterile fluid and presence of any microorganism can be a marker for a disorder like cholelithiasis. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of bacterial agents in the bile of patients with bilestone, malignant pancreatic and biliary diseases. Material and Methods: One hundred and two bile samples were obtained, during ...
متن کاملBiotreatment of the Wastewater Containing Insoluble Pigment by Halomonas Strain Gb
Industrial dyeing processes produce a large amount of wastewater that contains many organic compounds such as different type of dyes and pigments, dispersing agents, surfactants which are difficult to treat. Considering that little studies have been done on biodegradation of oil-soluble azo dyes, the lake of this issue is completely felt. In this study, biotrea...
متن کاملRole of caveolae in the pathogenesis of cholesterol-induced gallbladder muscle hypomotility.
Muscle cells from human gallbladders (GB) with cholesterol stones (ChS) exhibit a defective contraction, excess cholesterol (Ch) in the plasma membrane, and lower binding of CCK-1 receptors. These abnormalities improved after muscle cells were incubated with Ch-free liposomes that remove the excess Ch from the plasma membrane. The present studies were designed to investigate the role of caveoli...
متن کاملPtotic Gall Bladder with Hepatic Masses: A Case Report
Gall bladder (GB) may be found in a variety of abnormal positions. Most of them are due to arrested development of embryonic growth at different stages. A 63-year-old female patient was admitted to our radiology unit for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver for the lesions identified in abdominal ultrasonography (US) and computed tomography (CT). MRI showed that there was a lobulated h...
متن کاملThe concentration of heavy trace elements in pigment and cholesterol humangallstones: Comparative studies by PIXE analysis.
Background: The method of proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) has been widely used as a sensitive technique to trace elemental analysis in both biological and medical fields. The sensitivity of this powerful method is in the order of ppm .The aim of this work is to analyze structural composition of 4 heavy trace elements with Z greater than 24 (Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn) in two kinds of gallstones and to...
